Why It's Highly Unlikely the S&P 500 Will Crash in 2019

By Dale Gillham | Published 03 September 2019

Given how the US stock market has been unfolding, it’s highly unlikely the S&P 500 will crash in 2019 or in 2020.

Reporting season in the US is now over with second quarter consecutive earnings per share down slightly. There was also further talk of a negative yield curve indicating the economy is slowing and will fall into a recession in the next few years. However, it is questionable whether the yield curve is something you really need to take notice of or it is something you can largely ignore.

All of the talk surrounding a global recession, the US China trade war and a stock market crash similar to the GFC has many investors concerned that the market will fall heavily, but Dale argues that is not necessarily going to be the case.

All markets run in cycles and so studying past cycles will help you to understand the future. Therefore, in this week’s US Stock Market report, Dales looks at the statistics on the S&P 500 spanning over the last 69 years. In his report, he discusses both the bull and bear markets that have occurred in the S&P 500 from 1950 until today.

He also discusses the boom times prior to the GFC, the tech wreck, the GFC and other important occurrences in the US stock market and he looks at how many years the market has risen or fallen, and how often it has done both.

Traditionally, September is a down month on the US stock market, with the period between September and November statistically where many lows occur. So should you be worried over the next two months or is it time to get excited about the future of the market.

In addition to sharing his thoughts on the S&P 500, Dale also looks at why the Dow Jones Industrial Average is looking more bullish. He shares his analysis on the charts and shows you why he believes the market will not crash but instead present some great opportunities for astute investors.

Dale will also look at the biggest winners and losers over the past week and give you his thoughts on where they are headed. Watch the video to find out more.
